Half-Moon Console Tables: Will the Curve Fit Your Space?
You know the moment. You come through the front door with a bag in one hand, and the front corner of the console catches it at hip height. A rectangular console puts two of those corners into a walkway, at exactly the height a bag and a coat travel through. A half-moon console takes them away: its back is a straight edge against the wall, and its front is drawn as a half circle, so the piece is deepest in the middle and narrows to almost nothing where it meets the wall at either end.
That is the whole reason the shape exists, and it reframes every number attached to it. Width is the span of wall the piece occupies. Depth is measured at the middle of the curve, where the console is widest — not at the ends, where it is not. Two consoles can share a width and behave completely differently in a passage because of where that depth sits.
Depth at the middle, height at the top
Depth decides whether a hall still works. In this group it runs from 12 inches on the Stable Console to 20 on the Salutation Demilune Table and the West Gate Console Table, with the Gramercy Console Table a trim 14. The Gramercy and the Salutation set their tops at the same 34 inches; the six inches between them is the depth you either have or don't. A narrow entry turns on one question: how much of the walkway the piece takes, and whether it earns that space by holding what arrives at the door. The half-moon adds one refinement — because the curve pulls back at both ends, the passage beside a doorway, a stair or a chair can be tighter than the center depth suggests.

Height is the second number, and it is easy to overlook because a console is a console. Here the tops sit between 25.75 and 35 inches. The Stable Console is close to a generous shelf; the Fara Console Table and the Console Table Bonheur are both within an inch of 30, lower than most people picture and useful under a picture or beside a low bench; the tallest pieces — the Demi Lune Accent Console Table at 35 inches, and the 34-inch Gramercy, Eloise, Salutation and West Gate — put the top where a hand expects it on the way past.

What stands beneath the curve
A demilune front is soft, but underneath it the piece declares what kind of furniture it is. The Gramercy Console Table stands on four wavy tapering legs that flare from the apron and are joined near the floor by a low shelf, so the floor stays visible beneath and there is a second surface at ankle height. The Fara Console Table goes further toward openness: a tripod base carries its semicircular solid oak top, which leaves the middle of the floor largely alone and lets the shape of the top read from across the room.
The Console Table Renaissance takes the opposite approach. Its slender supports curve down from the top and gather into a small block at the floor, so the piece reads as one upright form with a half-round top rather than a table standing on legs. There is no splay to walk around and nothing to slide a basket under, which is either the point or the problem, depending on the hall.

And when the base is the subject, the Console Table Bonheur sculpts it from iron in an antique gold finish — a sheaf gathered at the waist and splayed at the foot — under a bevelled clear glass top that lets the shape read all the way down.
When the wall does the holding
The Stable Console asks for the least floor of anything here — 12 inches — because, as its listing describes it, nothing stands on the floor at all. Its demi-lune oak top sits over a forged metal frame that suspends on the wall, so the walkway continues underneath. The trade is visible in the height. At 25.75 inches the Stable is closer to a generous shelf than to the console you stand beside, which makes it a surface for a low lamp, a bowl or an arrangement you look at rather than handle in passing. It is a decision about the wall first and the floor second.
Drawers, castors, and a long wall
A half-moon console usually buys one of two things with its curve: a clear surface, or a place to put things down and shut the door on them. The Gramercy Console Table takes the middle path, with a drawer in the apron and a shelf below. The Demi Lune Accent Console Table puts two frieze drawers with brass handles and locks into a body only 22 inches wide, which is the piece for the short wall segment a larger console would swallow.
The Salutation Demilune Table is among the deepest here at 20 inches and the most furnished: two apron drawers with turned brass knobs, bobbin-turned legs, and antique brass castors in a worn black finish. Castors change how a hall works more than how it looks — the piece rolls aside when the room needs to become something else, and rolls back when it doesn't.
Length is its own decision. The West Gate Console Table runs 72-1/2 inches at the same 20 inches of depth, with a bowfront top and tapering legs on brass castors — a piece for a long wall behind a sofa or across a landing, rather than a passage. Worth planning before delivery: both the West Gate and the Demi Lune Accent Console Table are specified for installation by a licensed contractor with the wall-anchoring anti-tip kit provided, which is a different kind of preparation than placing a piece and stepping back from it.
Two stone tops and a glass one
The surface changes what the curve looks like from the doorway. The Hammered Console Table pairs a grey marble top with an iron base in a textured antique nickel finish, 13.5 inches deep and 33 inches high, and it is also published in a second version, bronze with white marble — a narrow console that reads as a slab of stone resting on something hand-worked.

The Console Table Renaissance is marble as well, and its marble will not match another one: the material is natural, and each piece differs in color and veining. Choose that piece for the shape and accept that the surface is drawn at random. The Console Table Bonheur does the opposite with its top. The bevelled clear glass all but disappears, leaving the iron sheaf to carry the whole gesture.
When the top is the design
Two consoles here share a footprint and disagree completely about what should hold the eye. The Eloise Console Table is 60 inches wide and 18 deep with a sunburst walnut top, serpentine legs in a linen finish, and brass arcing stretchers and ferrules — a piece for a dining room or a formal landing, where the figure of the top is the reason to buy it.

The Fara Console Table claims the same span of wall in a single material: solid oak in a light brown, 30 inches high, with the semicircular top doing the work. If the room already carries pattern, the Fara is the quieter answer. If the wall is plain, the Eloise gives it something to look at.
Fit the curve to the wall you have
The practical step before any of this is a strip of tape. Mark the middle depth of the piece you are considering at the center of the run, mark the ends where the curve pulls back, and live with the outline for a week. It is the center measurement your daily route has to pass, and the ends are the part you will forget.
Then let the wall narrow the list. If the floor needs to stay clear and the base should be seen, the Fara Console Table, the Console Table Bonheur and the Stable Console each leave more floor than a four-legged piece. If the entry collects keys, post and gloves, the Gramercy Console Table and the Salutation Demilune Table both give you somewhere to put them. If the wall barely exists, the Demi Lune Accent Console Table measures 22 inches across and stands 35 inches high. If the wall runs long, the West Gate Console Table takes it. The curve is the easy part to admire; the depth at the middle, the base and the drawer are what you will still be noticing a year from now.
