Poul Kjaerhom created some of the most uniquely simple mid century furniture designs of the mid 1900's. Kjaerholm was born in Denmark in 1929, and he attended the Danish School of Arts and Crafts following his time as an apprentice in a cabinetmaker’s workshop.
In the early 1950s, Kjaerholm's talent started gaining recognision as he joined the mid-century modern furniture revolution. Everything took off when he started working with his friend Ejvind Kold Christiansen.
Kjaerholms minimal mid century designs are easily recognizable within an instant. While most danish furniutre designers used primarilty wood, Kjaerholm focused ont he intricacies of metal. His mid century furniture is perfectly at home in modern and contemporary spaces today.
Poul Kjaerholm won the Lunning Award for his PK22 chair the same year he exhibited in Paris, participating in the Formes Scandinaves. Read More...
