Milo Baughman famously said “Furniture that is too obviously designed is very interesting, but too often belongs only in museums.” With this quote, Milo Baughman clearly established that the function of furniture is equally important as how it looks. Baughman never let his creativity overshadow the function of his designs, and solidified himself as a staple of what is now known as the Mid-Century Modern age. His inspiration often came from the greats of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer, but he combined these staples with that of the American West Coast style of Eames and Knoll.
Milo Baughman was Born 1923 to a Kansas home, but he moved and was raised in Long Beach, California for the majority of his upbringing. He served his country during World War II, and after the war he studied architectural design. In 1947, he started his own design firm, Milo Baughman Design, Inc.
Here at France and Son, we have re-imagined some of Milo Baughman's most popular and memorable designs. We believe that it's important for his genius to affordably reach those who crave his mid-century modern aesthetic.
